I didn't really find too many objections to this article as it was more informational based. I did agree with some who got into the topic of trying to create "real life" computer human beings. I think it would freak me out if my creature looked too realistic. I don't think it's natural or the way it's supposed to be. I don't know too much about that stuff though, but it seem to affect a lot of artists and their beliefs but in a very respectable way. No harm anywhere and it hasn't really gotten to that problem yet, so we shall see if it ever becomes one.

Weschler Review
I found Weschler's article on Why is this man smiling? fairly interesting. It was pretty cool reading it and learning about this new type of technology in entertainment. I haven't seen Final Fantasy, but I can't even imagine working on it. One thing that really stood out to me was how how much thought was put into each part of the human face. Their job was to make a creature look as realistic as they can with their computer software. The author stated that in some circumstances in the past, artists have had to stop adding more details because the creature looked too realistic and creepy. It amazes me how much time and effort was put into each character. I also loved this idea of how the author quoted a famous acting coach and compared what he said to their processes. Here's what Hook, the acting coach had to say; "When I'm coaching an actor and he asks me, 'Should I raise my eyebrow here?' my reply is likely to be, 'I dunno. Don't think about your eyebrow. Think about the emotion you're trying to convey, and the eyebrow will take care of itself.' But with an animator, it's the exact opposite. You're building from the outside in. Bits don't experience emotions, and emotions get conveyed exclusively through such things as a raised eyebrow, which itself has to be precisely calibrated. Raised, OK, but by how much? And what happens to the chin when the eyebrow gets raised? To the ear? To the other ear? And so forth" (Ed Hooks). That was very interesting to me. I feel I can take that into consideration when creating artwork. It's cool to switch up the point of view and might add more depth to artwork. I have a feeling since this class is computer based, this type of idea might come in handy during class.
Hickey Response
I really enjoyed the beginning of this article. I thought the author did a great job of grabbing my attention and transitioning it into his point of view. I loved how the author used his love for basketball and tried to make it relate to his opinion. I thought it was really cool how he put in information on how basketball came to be. I also thought it was cool how the author presented this idea that Thomas Jefferson stated; "The liberating rule that civilized us yesterday will, almost inevitably, seek to govern us tomorrow, by suppressing both the pleasure and the disputation. In dong so, it becomes a force of violence itself." It definitely opened up my eyes to think, but I'm not quite sure what opinion I've formed on that.
Something that I really didn't like or agree with was when the author stated that basketball was not a religion, but better than a religion. I just felt this author was taking it a little too seriously. Maybe he meant it in a symbolic way, but I didn't get that from the context around it. I felt almost when reading this article that it went downhill with my attention. I feel that he went way off into left field with his views and tried to incorporate this extreme love for the sport of basketball with what he had opinions about. I can see some of his "connections", but it was almost too forced and I don't know if I agree completely. I feel like from my prospective it was almost hard to understand. I'm not really into following basketball per say (except for Ohio State of course!), so maybe his opinions would have made more sense to a viewer who was just as passionate about basketball as the author was.

Kidd The Cheese Monkey Excerpts Review
When I first started reading the article, it took me a while to figure out where it was going. I really loved the style of the author and how formal yet informal it was. The author made a lot of interesting points in the article. I really thought the point about we view the world from left to right was intersteing. It makes sense in my head, but I've never actually thought about it that much. The author talked about how in a movie the director tends to put the most important person on the left. I'm sure this isn't always true but it makes me want to review some movies and see how many times this does happen. Definitely opened up my eyes to think about where to place certain things and where the human eye seems to travel when thinking about art work. I'm not sure if the author's completely correct, but it'll be cool to explore that more.
A part in the article I didn't completely agree with or understand was the points the author made about top and bottom. He started saying things about gravity and what goes up must come...I'm guessing down. Then I just felt he didn't explain his point very well. I think he was trying to get at the "Evil" person would be either on top in the frame or on bottom. I'm not quite sure and that leads me to think he didn't exicute it well. Also the author started off and ended with talking about we are trying to get the "enemy" to think this, etc. Who is the enemy? If it's the audience, why do we call them the enemy? We might use this tricks to trick the appearance of things, but I'm still a little confused.

Hello! My name's Whitney! I am a current student at THE Ohio State University where I am looking into Art Education as my major. As you will soon find out I am very, very indecisive. My major currently is titled Exploration which describes my future perfectly. Although the title might change, it won't hold me back from exploring for the rest of my life! I'm from a smaller town and love being out in the country! Ohio will always have a special place in my heart, no matter where I end up. I love thinking about how exciting that is. I'm just trying to figure out what, where and who I am destined to be- but isn't everyone? I feel we all have this internal desire to find that next thing, or person to just know who we are. Some people might suppress it, while others search everything and everywhere for it.
